Making Innovation Works Print E-mail

In the past few years, enterprise systems saw the emergence of viable and successful FLOSS (Free / Libre / Open Source Software) alternatives to established commercial software solutions, suggesting that the bar of commodity vs. strategic software solution is continuously rising:

  • CRM systems
  • ECM systems
  • ERP systems

We think that one class of enterprise systems is still missing in this picture, but actually should be there. The core features of so called PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems are now a commodity software, they do not represent a differentiating element versus competition and should now be available through FLOSS licenses.

These class of enterprise applications aim at supporting the Innovation Processes, through the management of digital information describing a product or service across its lifecycle's phases like (actual lifecycle for a specific product may vary depending on industry, business model or company's specificities): Idea Selection, Concept, Product/Service Design, Manufacturing Process Design, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, Recycle.

Historically these processes have been supported by Engineeering driven applications and, more recently, ERP class applications. The former having a greater focus on managing the evolution of engineering data (drawings, 3d models, FMEA date, etc.), the latter with a manufacturing  and transactional  oriented approach.

The Nauba Innovation Solutions, built on top of the core Nauba Enterprise Application Framework, represents our answer to the demand of an easy to use solution, which small, midsize and large companies can afford to implement in order to support their product development and innovation processes.

The core modules of Nauba Innovation Solutions and Nauba Enterprise Application Framework are available as Open Source, under AGPLv3 license.
